Chapter 1. General Rules


 Article 1 (Purpose)

The regulation aims to define all aspects concerning the editorial direction and review process of the Journal of Risk Management (including conference proceedings) published by the Korea Risk Management Society (hereinafter referred to as the Society).

 


Chapter 2. Editorial Committee


 Article 2 (Editorial Board)

An editorial board (hereinafter referred to as the board) is established to achieve the purpose outlined in Article 1.


 Article 3 (Composition of the Editorial Board)

 

    The editor-in-chief is appointed by the president of the Society and oversees all editorial-related affairs.


    The total of around fifteen editorial board members are appointed by the editor-in-chief from among professors in academia, researchers at research institutes, and those recognized for their professional research abilities.


    The editor-in-chief appoints a deputy editor from the board members, and the deputy editor supports the duties of the editor-in-chief.

 

    The term of office for the editorial board is two years and may be reappointed.

 

    At the editorial board meeting, decisions are made with the presence of a majority of the enrolled members and the approval of a majority of the attending members.

 

    Regarding the manuscript submitted by an editorial board member, the editor-in-chief may temporarily exclude the member from the editorial meeting for a submitted paper.

 

    Diversity in terms of region and expertise is considered in the composition of the editorial board. 


 Article 4 (Qualifications of Editors)

The editorial member should fall under one or more of the followings:

 

    Those with more than five years of membership as a regular member of the society.

 

Those with five or more research achievements published in risk management related journals.

 

Those who have presented, chaired, or discussed papers at domestic or international academic conferences at least twice in the last two years.

 


 Article 5 (Editing Procedure)

 

    The editor-in-chief oversees the review process based on separate review rules.

 

    The editor-in-chief convenes the editorial board meeting to review the articles that have been evaluated.

 

    The editorial board determines the number of papers to be published from the reviewed papers and establishes the editorial policy.

 

    The editors check whether the articles adhere to the Journal of Risk Management writing and submission guidelines and review editing details.

 

    Failure to complete the revised or supplementary procedure within the due date results in automatic postponement of publication.

 

   Manuscripts previously published or under review elsewhere cannot be published in the Journal of Risk Management.

 

   If an author submits multiple manuscripts simultaneously, in principle, only one article will be evaluated for publication in the same issue.



Chapter 3. Paper Submission and Peer Review Committee


 Article 6 (Role of Corresponding author)

 

    Corresponding authors should check for plagiarism issues on the Korea Citation Index website before submission.


   All papers should be submitted through the Journal of Risk Management online system (submission.jrm.or.kr) and can be submitted at any time.


   After receiving the first decision notification, corresponding authors should revise and supplement the manuscript based on reviewer comments and resubmit the manuscript through the system (submission.jrm.or.kr) with a response letter explaining the details of corrections.


   If a submitted manuscript is deemed unacceptable for publication, corresponding authors will be given only one opportunity for resubmission after making comprehensive revision.


 Article 7 (Qualification of Reviewers)

Reviewers should be those who fall under each of the following qualifications:

 

     An assistant professor or higher at a four-year university.

 

     Researchers or practitioners at research institutes

 

    Those with five or more research achievements

 

    Those who have published at least one paper in the Journal of Risk Management in the last three years.

 

    Those who have presented, chaired, or discussed papers at domestic or international academic conferences within the past two years and have reviewed papers for publication in domestic or international academic journals.


 Article 8 (Review Principles)

 

    The Journal of Risk Management aims to discover papers in risk management, insurance, and other related fields through a rigorous screening and editing process for papers submitted to the journal, ultimately, introducing excellent papers to academia and related industries.

 

   Manuscripts are anonymously reviewed by two or, if necessary, three reviewers.

 

    Reviewers evaluate both the contents and forms of the manuscript, considering the importance of the research topic, originality, academic and practical contribution, logic and research method, paper structure, references, citations, and abstract.

 

   Grades and commentaries are provided as follows:

 

(1)   Reviewers should give one of the following four grades to the reviewed papers.

 

A: Above 90 points (Accept)

 

B: 80-89 points (Accept after minor revision)

- Minor revision required.

 

C: 60-79 points (Reevaluate after revision)

- Revision and reevaluation required.

 

F: Below 60 points (Reject)

 

(2) Commentary

 

- Comprehensive Comment: The reviewer's overall impressions and explanation of the reason for the rating

 

- Detailed comment: Details related to revision and correction of the manuscript.

 

(3) Papers shall be published in the order in which the final revisions are completed.

 

(4) Regarding the revised manuscript, the editor-in-chief shall check for plagiarism issues using Korea Citation Index website before confirming the publication of the manuscript.

 

(5) In an instance where the reviewer does not finish the review within 20 days, the chief editor may nominate a new reviewer.

 

(6)   The editorial board preserves the confidentiality of review records.

 

(7)   In case of resubmitting previously submitted papers for publication in the next issue, the board may appoint new reviewers based on a case-by-case evaluation.

 

(8)   The editorial board should respect reviewers decisions on relevant papers, but can make decisions based on the editorial policy of the Journal of Risk Management.


 Article 10 (Review Schedule)

 

    Upon receipt of a manuscript, the editor-in-chief shall notify the author within three days and shall appoint the reviewers and request for review within seven days.

 

    Review reports shall be submitted to through the online submission system (submission.jrm.or.kr) within 20 days from the date of request including the evaluation grade of the manuscript in A, B, C, or F.

 

    Corresponding authors of the candidate paper for publication should submit revised manuscript within 60 days of notification.

 

    Failure to meet deadlines results in withdrawal of publication request, with the review process restarting for resubmitted manuscripts.


 Article 11 (Reviewer Guidelines)


    Detailed comments and revision proposals are required.

 

    Reviewers shall focus on issues raised in the first review and refrain from introducing new issues in subsequent reviews to deem the manuscript unpublishable or request revisions.


   If unable to review a manuscript, reviewers should promptly notify the editorial board to prevent publication delays.


Chapter 4. Principle and Process of Paper Review


 Article 12 (Others)

Matters not addressed in this regulation shall be determined separately by the editorial board.

 

These regulations shall be effective as of January 1, 2024.
